Will Hunter

I create and support ventures that open up possibilities across design, cities and entrepreneurship.

In 2025, I co-founded the Building Better Cities Collaborative at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate, a fellowship for mid-career city-makers in New York and London. Previously, I founded the London School of Architecture, the first new independent school of architecture in England since 1847.

I launched Vertical Urbanism as executive editor and creative director, with editor-in-chief Daniel Safarik. As deputy and then executive editor of The Architectural Review, I led the editorial and commercial strategy for its relaunch, with creative director Simon Esterson.

I teach entrepreneurship in real estate at NYU Schack, work with early-stage founders at the Harvard Innovation Labs, and am a mentor to the Young Climate Prize.

At UCL’s Institute for Global Prosperity, I served on the founding board of Fast Forward 2030, a network for impact entrepreneurs working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

My strategic advisory work spans The World Around, the Klosters Forum, Theatrum Mundi and FunctionLab. Previously I was a fellow at the Prosperity Institute.

I’ve been featured in the Guardian, the Financial Times and the Evening Standard; have interviewed leading design figures; curated and chaired conferences; and served on juries for the Wheelwright Prize, the RIBA President’s Medals and the World Architecture Festival.

An architecture graduate from the Bartlett, UCL and the Royal College of Art, I was later a Loeb Fellow at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and senior research fellow at MIT’s Senseable City Lab. I am based in New York.

I’m open to helping people achieve their goals:

  • Finding the opportunity—seeing what shifting conditions make possible
  • Giving it shape—turning ambitions into a clear purpose and strategy
  • Making it real—assembling the people and resources to launch it

“Will’s key strengths are his ability to identify opportunities and to design innovative new approaches to capitalise on them.”

Sir Terry Leahy, former chief executive, Tesco, and senior advisor, CD&R

“Will has an incisive ability to capture and sharpen the purpose and strategy of mission-driven organisations.”

Beatrice Galilee, founder, The World Around

“Will Hunter is a real innovator. He stands in a long line of community-oriented innovators, starting with William Morris.”

Richard Sennett, sociologist and urbanist, and senior advisor, United Nations Council on Urban Initiatives

“The LSA is a unique and important model for C21st architectural education. It would not exist without Will Hunter.”

Simon Allford, co-founder, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, and RIBA President, 2021–2023
